A sequel to the previously-reviewed 'Mr. Screen' collection, this 2 disc set fills in some the blanks left by that set. There is, of course, a lot of overlap between this collection and the various video anthologies and such, so I'll simply link those to the relevant reviews elsewhere.

'San Francisco' - Meant to be a sort of travelogue of Swingin' 60s San Francisco, this track appears by virtue of it's soundtrack : a unique version of 'Interstellar Overdrive' churned out by the Syd-led Floyd. The band does not actually appear anywhere in it, so our sole visual accompaniement is a schizophrenic flash of San Francisco-related imagery and photographs. I can't imagine anyone watching it more than once.

'Interstellar Overdrive' - Covered in 'Video Anthology - 1' already, but I just wanted to say that the guy in the glasses still rocks.

'The Scarecrow' - Covered in 'Video Anthology - 1'.

'Jugband Blues' - Covered in 'Harvested Video Anthology'.

'Astronomy Domine' / 'The Scarecrow - Covered in 'Video Anthology - 1'.

'Corporal Clegg' / 'Paintbox' - Amazingly, the band saw fit to cut promo films for both of these songs while on a short promo-filming spree in February of 1968. Much like the other films from this session, there is very little to see here...well, except for Gilmour standing on a low wall, threatening to jump. This and all films shot on February 18 look far, FAR better here than on 'Video Anthology - 1'.

'Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun' - Covered in 'Video Anthology - 1'

'Astronomy Domine' / 'Flaming' - The band cut these in an apparently empty TV studio for the French program 'Bouton Rouge'. 'Astronomy Domine' isn't very memorable, but things improve very slightly on 'Flaming' (covered in 'Video Anthology - 1') as Roger toots on a slide whistle and Dave fixes the camera with a murderous/bored look that seems to say "Kill me now, please." If I were forced to sing lines like "Yippee / You can't see me" I would probably do the same thing.

'It Would Be So Nice' through 'French Windows' - Covered in 'Video Anthology - 1'. It should be noted however, that the Amougies 'Set the Controls' is sourced from VH1 Classic's Pink Floyd Weekend of January 2002 (with Frank Zappa intro intact) rather than the aged BBC broadcast of the late 70s.

'WKRP in Cincinatti' - A rather amusing segment in which Mr. Carlson stumbles across a sedate Dr. Johnny Fever, spinning 'Dogs' on the turntable. Floyd-related hilarity ensues.

'The Happiest Days of Our Lives' - Covered in 'Video Anthology - 2'.

''The Wall' Television Commercial' - Basically quick zooms on many of the Scarfe drawings as the beginning of "Another Brick in the Wall (Part 3)" plays. The bit where the wall closes around Pink (from "The Trial") plays as the "This Roman Meal bakery...thought you'd like to know *SMASH*" sound bite plays, with the wall slamming shut in synch. The kids singing the chorus from "Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)" start right up as a shot of the album is shown and the announcer tells us what we're looking at. Short, simple, and neat.

'1983 MTV Promo' - A short MTV promo ad shows us some stock footage of a bespectacled man handling some heavy equipment as the announcer tells us that they're shooting Pink Floyd across the universe. Apparently it will take the band 5 years to reach the crab nebula. No wonder aliens are kidnapping us for rectal probing and genital torture, if we can't find anything better to send than the "Not Now John" video. Some gibberish about Dave Edmunds follows before a reassuring note that all this is here right now on earth. Lucky us.

'Learning to Fly (Original Version)' - A pristine version of the clip covered in 'Video Anthology - 2'.

'Learn to Fly with Pink Floyd' - Some fruity looking dude and his pal wake up in the cockpit of a plane to the strains of 'One of These Days', share some ridiculous chatter about control, before Fruit #1 wakes up sweating in his bed. The ending text tells us how to enter a contest to win a plane, punctuated by "DO YOU UNDERSTAND?". Notable only for the fact that it is the only Floyd-related film footage I've ever seen that uses any part of 'Several Species...'.

'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' through 'Run Like Hell'- Covered in 'The Omni - Atlanta, Georgia'. The only differences of note is that the version of 'Dogs of War' present here is a little edited differently in the first half, and 'On the Turning Away' and 'One Slip' are in better quality than the Atlanta tape (being sourced from VH1 Classic's Pink Floyd Weekend and 'Pink Floyd in Europe' respectively.)

'CNN Story on 'P.U.L.S.E'' - "So why are you releasing a live version of 'Dark Side of the Moon'? Why do you think that album has been so popular over the years?"...shutupShutUpSHUTUP!!!!!!!

'Wish You Were Here - 25th Anniversary' - A 'Shockwave Single' created for the internet by Storm Thorgerson in late 2000, this video is much like the rest of his later work : it has many ideas that could have been interesting had they been developed further thrown into an unimpressive mishmash. Anything new and interesting was abandoned in favor of playing off the album's artwork for 6 minutes while a musical montage of the album plays. Whoever thought showing some dogs burying a watch as though it were a coffin in front of some tubing during the line 'you've been in the pipeline, filling in time' was remotely clever should be shot.

When all is said and done there are some interesting bits to this collection, but the quality doesn't approach the original 'Mr. Screen' in the end. For the completist.
